Education in Tennessee

“We must further the gains we have made in education by staying true to the reforms we have put in place for Tennessee’s students and families.” – Governor Bill Haslam

Since 2011…
  • Tennessee put in place higher standards and greater accountability for our students and educators. Our students are now the fastest-improving in the nation.
  • The state will have invested nearly $1.5 billion into K-12 education, with $500 million going to teacher salaries.
  • Tennessee’s high school graduation rate has hit a record high and more students than ever are going to college.
  • Tennesseans can attend college tuition-free through Tennessee Promise and Tennessee Reconnect.

Learning in Coffee County – A Quality Education

When you are thinking of relocating to a new community or investing as a business, education is one of many important factors, and the Manchester community flourishes in that regard. Our area is home to two unique school systems, one of the largest community colleges in Tennessee, and an extensive career and technical education program.

Both Coffee County and Manchester City school systems are dedicated to providing effective instruction and an individualized environment that allows every child the chance to excel. Within each system, students are immersed in an array of educational opportunities both in and out of the classroom.

Whether it is hands-on learning through Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) programs, participating in after school organizations or athletics, or earning industry certifications and college credits, our students are excelling.

Dedicated professionals go above and beyond to ensure that every child is college or workforce ready upon high school graduation.
